Ffs Friday/Things I know- Hindsight

I am combining FFS Fiday and Things I know this week as I don't know a lot but most of it has given me the shits this week.

Why, why, why did I buy the 2 year old a bed?  I should have brought another cot.  FFS

He has until Sunday then I am cracking down again.  FFS

Because he won't gtftb his brother has decided he won't either.  FFS

It is very lucky for them that they are so cute.  FFS

Jelly bean will be in the cot until he/she is at least 18.  I am not making the same mistake 3 times.  FFS

2 weeks without a doctors visit, about bloody time.  FFS

I will be spending my friday morning at a "group" gestational diabetes thing.  I tried to get out of it and couldn't.  FFS

I hate groups and meetings.  There is always one in every group, doesn't matter what it is, that has to have tea breaks and asks annoying stupid questions.  If this is you then stop please.  FFS

I will have sore eyes from rolling them constantly during the course of this meeting.  FFS

I just hope I don't go to sleep.  FFS

My big cleaning, organising, decorating plans from last week have gone out the window.  FFS

Lets hope this weekend is more productive.  FFS

The one highlight this week is that we are having some family fun on Saturday night.  We are heading into the big smoke to look at the VIVID Festival lights.  No FFS

Although it clearly states on the website to plan yor trip which is damn near impossible when all the info is not included.  FFS

Lastly SPELL CHECK COME BACK I NEED YOU.  FFS

Where have you disappeared too??  FFS

Wordless Wednesday- Tooling around on my phone

A few weeks ago now I got a new phone and I love it.  Except for a few minor things like only being able to use the home wifi to connect to the internet and not being able to send a picture message as it just does not connect.  It does all the cool stuff like instagram which I have signed up for just not used yet!!  Last night I was tooling around with the photo edit function and the blogger app and this is what I came up with (thanks non sleeping kids, heartburn and insomnia)!!

Linking up with My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday.

Any instagram users feel free to leave your name if you want a new follower, I have plenty of time at night now to play with my phone!!  Hopefully next week I will have some vividly good photos to share!!

Lego- designed by a man possesed by the devil.

Janet from redlandcityliving.com wrote this post a couple of weeks about things that were obviously designed by a man and I had a quiet chuckle as the weekend before the HOTH and I had spent about half an hour putting together this lego set and I had said quite a few times during the process that lego is evil and designed by a childless man!!  Obviously this video shows just how simple it was to put together, NOT!!

I will admit I did buy this even though it said for ages 5+ but the box was massive and there was no way of knowing just how teeny tiny the pieces actually were.  Lego there really needs to be a disclaimer!!  It is now safely in the cupboard for the next few years and a new replacement set brought!!  Poor thing is banned from playing with it as he will lose some vital piece and the whole thing will be useless.

The creators of this video are sheer geniuses it is hilarious!!  Apparently there is a video for every set of this particular lego.

Jamie Oliver's Grilled Mushrooms

Jamie Oliver's Grilled Mushrooms

MUSHROOMS
  • 4 large flat Portobello mushrooms (approx 250g/ 9oz in total)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • ½ fresh red chilli
  • 2 sprigs of fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • ½ lemon
  • 70g (2½oz) mature Cheddar cheese

MUSHROOMS: Lay the mushrooms, stalk side up, on a chopping board. Trim the stalks and place the mushrooms stalk side up in a small earthenware dish that they fit into fairly snugly.
Crush ½ an unpeeled clove of garlic over each mushroom. Finely chop ½ a red chilli and a couple of parsley sprigs, and divide between the mushrooms. Grate over the zest of ½ a lemon, drizzle well with olive oil and season. Cut the Cheddar into four chunks and pop one on each mushroom.  Grill on the top shelf for 9 to 10 minutes, or until golden
I pinched this from here but it is actually out of Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals recipe book.  I love this recipe and book although I pick and choose individual things and have never actually made an entire meal!!  This is such an easy quick idea!!  I made these without chilli for the kids (who didn't eat them) and they were just as good without if you are not a big fan of chilli!!

Ps still no spell check so please excuse any errors!!

Things I Know - 24/5/13 umm how is it the end of May already!!

I figure my exciting news from last week deserves a post of its own.

I am officially going to BON JOVI WHOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

There is approximately 194 days until the big day!!  Not that I am counting!!

I know that I will be very happy if they play this set list!!

Also more importantly there is at the most 68 days until baby jellybean makes an appearance.  The one positive from having gestational diabetes is that I will more than likely be induced before the due date.

I know I have a busy weekend ahead with the room shuffle or put up the 2 year olds bed, move the cot into the babies room, sort out the boys bedroom and do a little Martha decorating magic.  Also cleaning out the babies room which has become a slight dumping ground.

At least once this is all done there should be a little less to do and more time for relaxing!!  Thats the plan anyway!!

I also know I have some research to do on low gi winter recipes.  Last time I had gd it was summer so the menu was easy.

Other stuff I know is that I am loving the cooler rainy weather this last few days, even if it means we are stuck inside!!

Have a fab weekend guys!!  Anyone have a low gi healthy recipe or know of a website etc they care to share??!!

Linking up a cheeky Friday arvo the kids are sleeping post with Saturday Morning Ogre Mum!!

FFS Friday- sickness and washing machines

Friday again.  FFS

I totally missed last weeks FFS Friday.  FFS

I was too busy looking after sick kids and waiting in doctors waiting rooms to honour you with a whinge.  FFS

After a full week of illness we are all back to normal (fingers crossed).  About time too.  FFS

Not before a couple of long nights and a vomitting child.  FFS

One time all over me.  FFS

I am expecting a call from the doctor and chemist asking where we are as I have not been to either place this week.  FFS

Our chemist was just renovated and I single handedly paid for it.  FFS

In other news the washing machine finally blew up in dramatic fashion last week.  FFS

Quite literally with smoke billowing out.  FFS

Lastly it would seem I hae gestaional diabetes again.  FFS

I am dreaming of the day I can eat carbs and sugar again.  FFS

Oh and I have a public apology to make to Mums Take Five.  After inviting myself to her Biggest Morning Tea I completely forgot about it and missed it.  FFS

I didn't even rsvp , so rude.  FFS

Apologies times a million.  FFS

Something which has not really sunk in this week is the fact I am the pround owner of a copule of kickass BON JOVI TICKETS.  Not FFS

Although that was not without a drama thanks to being held up at the doctors and missing the start of the presale by 5 minutes.  FFS

Thats it for me.  Linking up with Dear Baby G for FFS Friday.

Lastly my spell check has disappeared so excuse any errors!!  FFS

Wordless Wednesday- 1 year ago

I miss my magnolia and frangipani

One year ago we spent the last night in our old house before it was knocked down.  So hard to believe!!
8 years we lived in this house and looking at these photos I am so grateful to now have the house we do with its fancy things like a bathroom where all the tiles are on the wall and insulation!!

Cheesy Chicken Rice Casserole

Picture of Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (Regular, 98% Fat Free or Healthy Request®)
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 3/4 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 1/4 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (about 2 ounces)

Directions

Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Stir the soup, water, rice, onion powder, black pepper and vegetables in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
Top with the chicken. Cover the baking dish.
Bake for 50 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the rice is tender. Top with the cheese. Let the casserole stand for 10 minutes. Stir the rice before serving.

Cheesy Chicken Rice Casserole

I found this recipe last year thanks to someone posting the link on facebook.  I cannot believe I never came across something like this before.  It is so easy!!

I have found it takes longer than 50 minutes even in a working oven (first time I made it was in a dodgy non fan forced oven).  I also cut and flatten the chicken so it cooks evenly and quickly.  Another option is to just do the rice without adding the chicken, this way you can use any flavour soup and serve it with whatever!!  This is definitely added to my winter menu from now on!!

Ps sorry about the American measurements!!

Wordless Wednesday- Rainbows and Mother's Day

We saw this rainbow a couple of weeks ago.

This rainbow is similar to one I saw a year ago when we went to say goodbye to our house before it was knocked down.  I am sure it was a sign that the old house was ok with being replaced.  The end of the rainbow was directly over our house that day.
What else did
i need for Mothers day?  This was a present made at preschool.  On the back was the beautiful quote.

Thanks a million for all the positive vibes last week.  I got the results yesterday and it was positive for gestational diabetes.  I had a sooky lala day yesterday but have woken up with a more positive attitude!!

Singing in the supermarket

I have become one of "those" people who sings while walking around the supermarket!!  I blame pregnancy and 2 kids in a trolley who would not stop fighting for this rapid decline into insanity!!  The first 4 songs were some quality supermarket songs and the last is Avril's new song which has become song of the week!!  Last is classic Avril proving I will never grow up and will always be a teeny bopper!!

How could I also not add that scene from Top Gun!!  Excuse the subtitles, apparently Top Gun is big in non english speaking countries!!  In fact I could not find a non subtitled clip!!
Anyone else want to fess up to being a supermarket singer or an in their 30's teeny bopper??!!  I can't be the only person who thinks Top Gun is one of the best movies ever!!

Open Slather/ Things I know- The test!!

Ok I have exactly 20 minutes to write a Monday post so here goes some speed blogging!!

Things I know- The test!!
  • I had the test.  Thanks x 1million for all the positive vibes!!
  • 2 hours went by in a flash thanks to reading and having a phone to play on!!
  • I had to pull out the phone as I could feel myself falling asleep when I was reading thanks to not being able to have a coffee!!
  • Especially after finally getting a seat on the only lounge in the waiting room!!
  • Our town has roughly 5000 people in it.  I reckon about 4500 where at the blood place on Saturday morning.
  • Lucky I got there early.
  • Dragon lady was doing the blood collection.  By then end of the test she was actually chatting to me however I hated her as she made a coffee and toast while I was sitting there starving.  That was just plain cruel.
  • She also chipped me for not having made an appointment.
  • At least she is good at taking blood, that comes in handy when you have to have blood taken before, during and after the test.
  • Tomorrow afternoon is results time.  I am totally getting my carbs and sugar in now just in case these become banned in the next few weeks!!
  • I had an awesome Mothers day (hope all the mums out there did too!!) I got exactly what I wanted, a lovely card, a lottery pack and some handmade stuff from the kids!!  Although I actually made one of the pressies at playgroup!!
  • We are having a slightly tight ass present year as I am getting Bon Jovi tickets and ............  while I was looking up BJ I found out that  Monster Mutt DalmatianMonster Jam are heading out to Australia in October and as the HOTH and kids are in love with them we are all going!!  We are going to do the whole experience and get a pit pass.  Times like this cement the fact I live in a house of boys.

Express blogging over!!

Have a fantastic day guys,

FFS Friday and The Lounge- Fashion Fails

It has been a case of same old around here this week.  FFS

Another week another trip to the doctors and the vet.  FFS

In fact I have not really had a lot to say FFS about at all.  I would never say that out loud though as it is common knowledge bragging about not having anything to say FFS about results in double the following week!!

GTFTB (go the fuck to bed) is going quite well in fact roughly 5 nights out of 7 both kids are in bed at bedtime.

Our family shopping trip resulted in minimal swearing and name calling.

The shopping trip did however give me one thing to whinge about and this is where The Lounge comes in.  The Lounge is over at .Slapdash Mama this week and the topic is Fashion Fails.

For the next 12ish weeks I will be a walking fashion fail as there is a severe lack of cheap maternity clothes available.  FFS

I have a beachball poking out the front of me which is growing at a rapid rate and I am fast running out of clothes that fit.  FFS

So for the next few weeks I am going to be walking around in some interesting outfits.  It won't be pretty.  FFS

I may just become a recluse for the next few weeks.  FFS

Unless wearing pjs out in public becomes socially acceptable.  FFS

I wish I was as classy as the lovely Kate.  FFS

kate middletonpic from here

A quick google of pregnancy fashion fails resulted in about a million images of KK (Kim Kardashian) and it kind of made me feel slightly better about my outfits.  Seriously Kim you have a gazillion dollars and you are walking around looking like you stole some curtains from a nursing home.  FFS

MetPunk24pic from here

I have one other thing to add.  For the last few weeks I have been excited about Bon Jovi hitting Australian shores in December however I distinctly remember asking nicely if tickets could NOT go on sale at 9am on a Monday.  Take a guess at what time next week the first presale tickets go on sale.  FFS

One last thing FFS Fridayers and Loungers is that I am asking for some positive vibes to be thrown my way for a negative gestational diabetes test on Saturday.  Pretty please.  A positive test will result in weeks of constant whinging, just saying!!  I will get the results on Tuesday so brace yourselves for an epic whinge on Friday should I have it again.  FFS

Linking up with Dear Baby G for the regular Friday whine and also with Slapdash Mama for some Lounging fun.

Happy Mothers Day too guys, I hope you get all the slippers and pyjamas you could possibly need.

Wordless Wednesday- Dam fine day for a morning out.

Long way down!!
We found a secret picnic spot!!

We have been making the most of the last of the warm weekends and last weekend we headed to our local dam for a walk/bike ride.

Linking up for Wordless Wednesday with My Little Drummer Boys.

Also I am asking everyone who stops by here this week to please send a few positive vibes my way for a negative gestational diabetes test on Saturday!!

Maple syrup vegies

Judging by the weather forecast I think its pretty safe to say that is no longer salad for dinner weather so its time to get back into some cooked vegies.  I thought I would share a quick easy alternative to roast/baked veg.

Simply par boil (or fully boil if you forget you have a pot on the stove!!) whatever veg you would normally bake.  I usually do potato, sweet potato, carrot, parsnip etc.  Mix together a crushed clove of garlic, a tablespoon or 2 of whole grain mustard and about 3 tablespoons of maple syrup in a big bowl.  Add in the cooked veg and mix around.  Pop into a baking dish and bake in the oven on about 180 for about half an hour.  Easy!!

Don't be put off by the weird ingredients, when it is cooked it is really yummy!!  I think this may be a Weight Watchers recipe but I got it off a family member so I am no too sure!!

On Saturday I did a little post about having to go for the 2 hour fasting glucose test for gestational diabetes this coming Saturday and I am asking everyone who pops in this week to send me some positive vibes for a negative outcome this time around!!

Have a great week Open Slatherers!!

Linking up with One Mother Hen for some Monday fun!!

Things I know- 4/5/2013

Things I know in a dodgy point form as I have limited computer time this morning as the kids will be up soon and I only just discovered this little linky!!
  • This time next week I will be cranky and dying for a coffee but unable to have one thanks to having to go for a 2 hour glucose test.
  • I will have to remember not to eat the kids leftover breakfast.
  • I am overly excited at the prospect of 2 child free hours with a book.
  • I just hope the nice lady is collecting the blood and not the dragon who has been there for all of my blood tests so far this pregnancy.
  • I know that having gestational diabetes last time really sucked and took the shine off the last 12 weeks.
  • I know that there is different information on the topic varying from different hospitals to different states and it is bloody confusing.
  • I absolutely do not want to go through it again, it was time consuming, stressful and annoying.  None of which I have time for this time around.
  • Lastly on the topic of gestational diabetes- I desperately need your positive vibes this week guys so I can get negative test results.  Please please pretty please!!
  • I also know that SATURDAY 14TH DECEMBER is BON JOVI DAY!!
  • Lastly I know the kids are up and being Saturday Buzz Lightyear has been put on to buy me an hour and a half more peace!!
Thanks to Miss Cinders for hosting!!

What do you know??!!  Do tell!!

FFS Friday- Just another week.

Another week another list of stuff to say FFS about.  FFS

Not all bad though, we have so far managed to avoid our weekly doctors visit but replaced that with a vet visit instead.  FFS

Damn dog and arthritis.  FFS

He needs half a tablet at night and weekly injections.  Why can they not make the tablets half size rather than me having to try and chop an already small tablet.  FFS

Worse part is less than 24 hours after the first injection he was up and running around like the moron he is.  Bloody hypochondriac.  FFS

On Wednesday my phone, which had crapped itself last Friday, really threw me a curve ball and got half the charger stuck in it meaning it was not going to ever work once the battery died.  FFS

Off to the shops we go yesterday which thanks to preschool being back from holidays meant I only had one terror to deal with.  I had 2 options of shops to go to and I chose badly.  I walked out with less than half the stuff on my list thanks to closed shops and others being renovated.  FFS

Meaning we are having a family trip to the shops I should have gone to on Sunday.  FFS

I cannot imagine that this will end well.  FFS

However on the bright side there was only 1 mini 2 year old tantrum.  This was over one of those $2 ride things again.  If  I win lotto I will buy every one of these god forsaken machines and run them over with a truck.  FFS

It didn't help that the shops we went to have a high ratio of these insanity causing machines.  FFS

On the bright side my new phone is so cute and clever.  I figure I should know how to use it in about a year.  FFS

I have had 2 lots of vomit to deal with in the last week.  FFS

One which resulted in the whole lounge being stripped and washed.  FFS

At least when the 2 year old spewed on Wednesday he did it on the floor.  FFS

Which then got eaten by a dog while we were in the shower washing vomit out of hair.  FFS

That I think is it for me this week.  Except that today I am off out to buy a bloody big boy bed for the 2 year old.  FFS

This will also not end well either with many stories to come over the next few weeks.  FFS

Linking up for the weekly whine with Dear Baby G!!

Thanks to everyone who commented on last weeks debacle.  The grand total of booze lost was 2 1/2 bottles of Bourbon, 1 bottle of red and a few whites.  Luckily the cheap hooch I discovered I liked and had stocked up on before getting up the duff survived.  FFS

Wordless Wednesday- Bad things happen in threes

  1. My angel/ fairy (depending on who you ask) holding a cat, one of my most treasured knick knacks knocked on the floor while I was dusting.  Luckily she is fixable.
  2. The booze cupboard, 2 1/2 bottles of bourbon, a bottle of red and a couple of whites.  All I did was put 2 stubby coolers in there and it collapsed.  Not everything broke just the expensive stuff!!
  3. Friday afternoon I was innocently sitting down having a look at facebook when my phone switched itself off and when I turned it back on it had deleted  everything.  Now all it does is send messages and make phone calls just like in the olden days of phones.
Linking up with My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday.  With the moral of the story being housework is bad!!
