Things I Know #6- Mothers Day 2014

Friday again and time for another round of #tik!!

I don't know a great deal this week.  I have spent this week trying to gt back to normal after our holiday.  Very unsuccessfully!!

All I know is it is Mothers Day on Sunday.  I have no idea why Australia celebrates this day in May and the rest of the world in March??

I am not a huge fan of Mothers Day.  Apparently according to all the advertising I should be wanting pink slippers and a foot spa.  Wrong wrong wrong.

I know I have at least one beautifully handmade something from preschool.  Kindy Kid chose an awesome present from his Mothers Day stall (a candle, yes he showed me!!).  We just had an amazing holiday where I got to drink cocktails at sunset, have a massage and be relaxed for a whole week.  I do not need anything else!!

Ok maybe I do need a funky pair of converse or something similar for winter, just to avoid leaving the house in socks and thongs.  I may or may not have done this the other day!!  I also spent the whole day with my fly undone.  All class here!!

I was given a voucher for a facial for my birthday and will be cashing that in soon so that sort of counts as a present!!

I would love a sleep in on Sunday.  Chances are zero.  Seriously kids sleeping in would not hurt you!!

What I would love most of all is some time, just a couple of hours to sit and blog and read.  Fingers crossed on that one!!

Enjoy your day if you are a mother or have a mother and you celebrate the occasion!!

Linking up with Tegan from Musings of the Misguided and the ladies from The Lounge and also Rhianna from A Parenting Life for a belated Thankful Thursday as I am incredibly thankful to have 3 gorgeous boys (even though 99% of the time they drive me bonkers!!).

  1. Urgh, Mother's Day is so contrived, it's really frustrating! All I really want is to go out for lunch with my family and then spend an hour in the bath with a good book. Chances of it happening? Zilch.

  2. I hate the materialism of Mother's Day. One of my boys asked me what I wanted and I said I just wanted for my boys to take me out to breakfast. Time is much more precious than a pair of fluffy pink slippers.

  3. I hope you do get some time to yourself Ann - although my children are older now (and inexplicably don't want to spend time with me!!) I remember how very precious just a few hours of alone time used to be.

  4. We have no plans for mothers day and don't tend to do too much, other than taking the time to visit our own mothers. I wouldn't mind a sleep in though! Have a lovely day Ann!

  5. The thing with mothers day, is that the magical meaningful moments happen all year round, not on a day designated to celebrate it. And for me, I organise to see my mother (and mother in law) every month, so this one is really no different. It's just become the mass produced who-har that I find a little off...so I hear ya! But if you get some time off or a sleep in, then lets say it was a great day!

  6. The handmade gifts are just the best. This year though I am sure that the Kindy teachers really didn't think the present through..it is a giant heart necklace with a photo of Dyllan inside..which is great, expect it also contains a shit ton of glitter. I am really hoping that baby doesn't bust open or Dyllan doesn't try to open it.

Thanks for linking up with us at The Lounge.

  7. Happy Mother's Day and I look forward to seeing what my girls choose for me when they go to school and have to pick something from the Mother's Day stall. There is a lot of hype about Mother's Day, but it's nice that it is an occasion where kids can acknowledge their mum. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day and that you will miraculously get a sleep in. :)
