Wordless Wednesday- Five

This gorgeous boy is 5 today.  He is smart, funny, busy, friendly and a great (most of the time) big brother.  I keep checking to make sure the dates are right as I cannot tell you where the last 5 years have disappeared too!!

Dear Fun Police

Get over yourselves regarding the no make up selfies.  Is raising awareness not acceptable anymore.  Maybe the people complaining didn't get tagged and are jealous?  For the record I don't normally join in these things however my lovely friend tagged me and as she has had a rough time lately I decided to cheer her up and post my selfie.  Yes I did it in black and white (apparently these were problems as people were using filters etc and they were not "natural"pictures) as it was 11pm and I could not be arsed getting up and finding decent lighting.  I also did not donate money, oooh shock horror.  I did just recently buy a pink ribbon mop and we donated to the cancer council last month, is that ok??

Also it was a campaign to raise money for breast cancer research in England that went global.  Maybe you whingers could start one here instead of complaining about it, just a thought.

Saturday ended up being a hilarious day on facebook seeing more and more people join in turning facebook into something good for a change.  The lovely lady on the right is one of my very good friends, isn't she beautiful!!

Dear Mother Nature

No more rain at school drop off and pick up please.  Pretty please with a soggy (after yesterdays mega down pour) cherry on top.  Seriously I don't care if it rains all day just back off when we have to leave the house!!

Dear Awesome Blog Readers

It is my birthday today.  I am older than yesterday!!  It is also Elton John, Aretha Franklin and Sarah Jessica Parker's birthday too.  I will be spending the day doing exactly what I normally do on a Tuesday.  Not that I am complaining as in a few very short weeks I will be kicking back in Fiji.  Life is good, or will be as soon as I hit the swim up bar!!

Thankful Thursday- Hungry caterpillar

Happy 45th Birthday you cute very hungry caterpillar!!

One of the absolute classic children's books and a very dear favourite of mine.  I remember reading this when I was very little.  All of my children are enjoying this book.  From the classic hardcover version to the bath book.  Such a timeless sweet story.

Subitizing

Just yesterday kindy kid asked me when I would be starting big school.  Turns out I probably do need to go back asap as I just used my lunch time to understand what subitizing is.  FFS

Until 10am this morning I had never even heard of subitizing and now it has consumed me!!

Now I understand the concept I am off to subrtize the number of bottles of wine in the cupboard.  Looks like Kindergarten is going to be a lot harder than I thought!!

Autumn.

I love this time of year, love it.
The days are still warm but the nights are cooling down.  I love nothing more than flannelette as clothing and bedding!!

We had a very mild summer here, nowhere near the temperatures of the year before.  I don't think we even had a catastrophic bushfire warning like last year.  I think we had more hot days in spring than summer.

Last winter was a fairly mild one.  I think there was only 2 or 3 days where I had the heater on all day.

I am looking forward to cooking some yummy hot winter comfort food,  I have a few tried and tested winter wonders like cheesy chicken rice casserole and this year I am going to make more of an effort to document  more of the ones I cook.  Not only for my benefit but I know how awesome it is to discover something new to try and hopefully I can inspire others too!!
